[Video]; Kenyans Villagers chase down and Capture goat-killing cheetahs

Cheetahs may be the fastest animals in the world but that fact counted for nothing when four Kenyan villagers last week chased down and captured two goat-pilfering big cats.

The four brave men from north-east Kenya told reporters that the cheetahs had been picking off their goats everyday. Before launching the chase over a distance of four miles, the men reportedly waited until the hottest part of the day so that the cheetahs would not hit their usual top speed. The villagers captured them unhurt and handed them to the area’s Kenya Wildlife Service officials.

Villager Nur Osman Hassan, who sought the support of three other men to round up the cheetahs said the wild cats had killed his goats and wanted the Kenya Wildlife Service to compensate him for the loss.

Goats and other livestock are a crucial part of the economy for the Kenyan-Somali population living in the barren north-east of Kenya.

With a slender and long-legged body built for speed, cheetahs can reach speeds of at least 120km/h.
